What this means

When using the Siteimprove browser extension or in Siteimprove scans, you may see a flag for "container element is empty." This is triggered by Siteimprove rule SIA-R68, which checks that container elements have at least one child element where required.

Scope

This flag appears in regular Siteimprove site scans and affects your published pages and their accessibility scores. It can occur on any piece of content which uses a filtered text field.

What action is needed

There is a known issue which can sometimes leave an empty list container (<ul> or <ol>) within text content. Updating the text field which contains this element and saving the content will fix the issue.

For the smallest change, open the "Source" view in the text field editor, add a single space to the beginning, and save.
